About me

For the past 40 years, Paul has played the role of student, tutor, coach, teacher, and legal advocate throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Paul has practiced family law exclusively since 1999.
During the first decade of his career, Paul served as an Assistant Family Law Facilitator.

in the Sonoma County and San Francisco County family courts during which time he assisted more than 20,000 self-represented litigants with divorce, paternity determinations, child custody, child support, spousal support, property allocation, and domestic violence.

For the past 14 years, Paul has assisted hundreds of private clients
resolve family law matters, primarily as a solo practitioner.

A proud bookworm, Paul was born and raised in Minnesota and moved to California
after graduating high school where he earned a varsity letter in gymnastics as a still ring
and pommel horse specialist.

As an undergraduate student, Paul began a gymnastics coaching career that would
span four decades. As a compulsory boys team coach in the USA Gymnastics Junior
Olympic Program at Redwood Empire Gymnastics in Petaluma CA between 1988 and
2002, Paul taught recreational gymnastics to thousands of children and coached teams
of 7-15 year-old boys to 9 NCBGA team championship titles. Paul stayed involved in
the sport and even coached boys gymnastics at California Sports Center in San Jose,
CA from 2013-2016. He retired in 2016.
Prior to attending Golden Gate University School of Law, Paul earned a B.A. in Liberal
Studies from Sonoma State University and an M.A. in English Composition Theory from
San Francisco State University. Paul received an American Jurisprudence award in
Legal Writing and Research, worked three semesters as a teaching assistant for
Contracts and Torts, published a law review note, served as a law review associate
editor, graduated in the top 15% of his class, and passed the California Bar on his first
attempt.

Between 1999 and 2012, Paul taught legal and expository writing throughout the Bay
Area, including GGU where he served as an Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing from
2006-2012.

Paul is a doting uncle to his 12 and 10 year-old nephews who live nearby, visiting whenever he is not practicing law.
