(Stanislaus County, CA) November 17, 2025 – Attorney Ryan Romero claimed victory Friday after he obtained a successful outcome in a parentage action after Mother filed an emergency request against the firm’s client, seeking temporary sole legal and sole physical custody.
The case was resolved at mediation with a Joint Legal and Joint Physical Custody order and an equal 50/50 timeshare. Mother’s ex parte request was based on allegations that Father had a substance abuse issues. Upon investigation, Romero uncovered that Mother had a prior DUI, had been driving on a suspended license for nearly five years, and had consumed alcohol during pregnancy. These facts significantly undermined the credibility of her emergency request.
Because attorneys may participate in mediation in Stanislaus County, Romero argued Father’s position directly to the mediator. After reviewing the evidence, the mediator agreed that Mother’s request for sole custody was not supported. Mother ultimately agreed to formalize the parties’ prior arrangement of equal parenting time without further court intervention.
When asked how he felt about the outcome, Romero stated: “The evidence showed that Mother’s allegations did not reflect the full picture. Once the mediator understood the facts, it clear that a 50/50 arrangement would serve the child’s best interest.”
Romero was assisted by paralegal Stephanie Femino, who Romero states was invaluable.
