Bill Stewart

Family Law

Mr. Stewart has a strong legal background in civil litigation, intellectual property issues, and administrative law. He has fought cases in state and federal courts, including before the Social Security Administration. Early in his career at Mount, Spelman & Fingerman, he led the plaintiff’s patent damages strategy in several high-stakes intellectual property cases, managing discovery and expert reports, and helping secure more than $10 million for clients. He also settled 23 civil cases favorably, negotiating with a range of companies, from small businesses to large firms, resulting in payments of five to seven figures.

Most recently, Mr. Stewart served as Supervising Attorney at PRC, a respected nonprofit organization in San Francisco, where he achieved a 95% success rate for over 144 clients and secured more than $5 million in retroactive benefits through his tenacious advocacy.

Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Stewart earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Ohio State University and built an 18-year career at IBM. He advanced from lead product engineer—receiving a CEO Corporate Technical Achievement Award—to top-ranked sales manager in the Americas, and later served as a regional manager in the Western U.S. This strong business and technical background complements his legal work with excellent analytical, leadership, and project management skills. Bill earned his J.D. from John F. Kennedy University College of Law in Pleasant Hill, California.

Bill is admitted to practice in all California state courts, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Outside of work, Bill and his husband, Tom, enjoy traveling—most recently on a cruise along the Danube River—and walking their two Keeshonden (Dutch barge dogs) in McLaren Park in San Francisco.
