Steve L. Derby
“Over his long career, Steve has practiced a wide variety of civil law including personal injury, consumer rights, disability rights, employment discrimination, civil rights, civil harassment, Lemon Law, Fair Housing, and Americans with Disabilities Act litigation. He is admitted to all Federal Courts in California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been representing individuals and small businesses his entire career.
Steve is past president of the Alameda Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association, past at-Large Board Member of the Consumer Attorneys of California and the Board of Directors of the Contra Costa County Bar Association. He also served on the Contra Costa delegation to the California Conference of Bar Associations, a statewide organization which suggests new laws and changes to existing California Law. He has served on a number of delegations who travel to the California State Legislature in Sacramento to advocate for legislative changes to help his clients and community.
Steve is a frequent author, speaker and instructor on topics related to trial practice and civil litigation. He served as volunteer judge and arbitrator in courts in Contra Costa, Alameda and San Francisco Counties for over 10 years. He is also a Certified Mediator. In 2021, he moved to Coronado (near San Diego) where he lives with his wife and son.”
